Existential crisis

EDIT: I don't think I could ever afford a SFH even I continue living at home. But a townhouse would be achievable, maybe.

I am trying to get my life together and I am planning to do a 401k and FIRE. However, I fear I am late since I didn't save my money well and my family has been using me as an ATM. Eventually I will put my foot down.

Thinking of buying a house in my forties. Currently in my mid twenties. My only concern is I fear my dad will pass away someday. He is in his sixties. My mom on the other hand is planning to retire someday in her home country. She is in her 50's.

I don't have a good relationship with my siblings so I don't want to rent with them. I am dating someone online although our relationship is still young to live together.

I'm feeling lost in life and I just want to achieve my dream lifestyle. I grew up in poverty and mental health has screwed me over. I don't like where I am living at and dream of living in the West side of the state. But I guess the best I can do is keep on saving and work on my skills. I am planning to learn CAD if I ever enter the aviation or naval industry.

Hi,

You've mentioned you're in crisis and poor mental health. If you're in a low state like this then please consider calling one of those mental health phone lines. I'm sorry, I'm in the UK so I can't recommend one from the USA.

Is there anyway you can speak to a therapist? You've written about a lot of worries based on "what ifs". They can really help you move past this and help with goal setting to get started.

Hey friend,

I've definitely been in a similar state as you. I want to let you know: don't be hard on yourself. It's perfectly natural to not know what to do. It's also okay to "fail."

As Jiggle Ffa asked above, have you considered seeing a therapist? I know it's a bit overstated, but therapy really can make a difference. It can be a place for you to get perspective in a way you couldn't otherwise. Your state may offer financial assistance for medical care if you qualify as low-income. All this is to say, there are options! So please don't feel down.

Take care of yourself.
